Nicaragua

In Nicaragua we had planned to climb the San Cristobal volcano but unfortunately it went into eruption and people were evacuated from the surrounding villages just a few days before. So instead we went to the coffee capitol of Matagalpa, hoping to find some excellent Nicaraguan coffee. Nope. It seems it is with the Nicaraguan coffee like with the Danish bacon – the best products are exported. Then we continued to Granada, which reminded us a little of Antigua, Guatemala.

Granada.

All the way down through Mexico, Belize and Guatemala we saw hammocks everywhere outside the houses. In Nicaragua appeared also the rocking chair. In the evening in Granada, everybody moves their rocking chair out onto the street to enjoy the cooler air and a chat.

We immidiately adapted the local habit! Unfortunately we cannot bring two rocking chairs on top of Frida for the trip. Here we are in Granada, on the coast of Lake Nicaragua, at the Hotel Maltese.

Frida enjoying a good bath together with the local busses.

A fully loaded bus on the road.
