Thatta
We went to Thatta on a day trip from Karachi. Thatta is located ca 100 km east of Karachi, near the large delta of the Indus river. It was the capital of the Sind region from the 14th to the 17-18th century and is home for the Unesco world heritage listed Necropolis of Makli and the beautiful Shah Janan Mosque. Also the drive to go there was an experience.
Necropolis of Makli
The necropilis of Makli is a vast necropolis with around half a million graves and tombs, including some impressive mausoleums. It is a Unesco World Heritage site since 1981.
Shah Jahan Mosque
The beautiful Shah Jahan Mosque in Thatta was built in the 17th century and is rightfully very famous.
